Beauty Tips with Jenna Lyons

A longtime wearer of J.Crew, (I even sported the brand head-to-toe in Tuesday's post) I have to admit that I've fallen off the jewel-encrusted, half-tucked wagon lately. By the looks of her moody/minimalist inspiration board, it would seem creative director Jenna Lyons has too. As I evolve into a slightly more bohemian, easy style I've left a few things behind (i.e. statement necklaces and the trademarked "shiny pony" aka the extravagant heel in colorways like leopard and "neon flamingo") but I'll never forsake my beloved Jenna. Her sense of style is second to none and I'm lapping up any and all advice she has to offer. Thank God for this interview with Into The Gloss, now you can revel in secrets whispered only in hushed tones around the J.Crew offices. Whew!

What do you think? Did all of the blogger hype surrounding the brand these last few years kill J.Crew a little bit for you too? I have to admit, I'm still eying a few pieces from their newest crop of Fall must-haves...

Well friends, we've reached the final look in our Anthropologie shoot and it's by far the most conceptual. We had so much fun dreaming up this story and ending with hair-turned-nest seemed like the perfect little sendoff. Our model was definitely one with the birds by this point!  You can consider this the beginning of things to come on Chelsea & The City and expect to see a few more projects in the coming months...

I'm so grateful to the Anthropologie team for letting me play dress-up and giving me creative free-reign on this project.  I'm incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to work with one of my favorite brands!

This shoot definitely would not have gone so smoothly without the help of our amazing little team (and some sweet feathery extras). I'm smitten with the idea of creating beautiful images with friends!

Weekly Favorites 04

embroidered pillow, floppy hat, leather backpack (on sale), soap, palm cuff, dresser

I'm officially over summer! While sunshine is nice and summertime adventures are a ton of fun, I'm so ready for the crunch of leaves beneath my feet and an extra pump of pumpkin spice in my lattes. Since we're in that awkward transition stage when it comes to fashion (do you buy another pair of cutoff shorts or go ahead and start picking up boots?), I'm adding a little autumn to my wardrobe in small increments. This week's favorites is a roundup of things cropping up on my wishlist for the new season...

Last Friday Ginny and I stopped by our local #anthroevent (a pop-up market with local vendors... so much fun) and I immediately tried on this floppy hat. I've thought about it at least once a day since and I'm headed back as soon as my calender (and wallet) allow. I'm also eager to get my hands on a few cozy touches for our apartment as the seasons change. Add the perfect backpack (I'm loving them instead of a purse for fall) and jewelry for a place I've never thought to put jewelry and you've got the perfect wishlist to welcome colorful foliage!
