August Mood

Oh hey August, I'm so happy to see you! July was pretty hectic and I'm ready to slow things down and find a little bit of a rhythm here in California.  Exciting things are happening: school starts next week, we're in the final trimester of this pregnancy, we finally have a top three list of baby names (eek!), I'm taking on a new position at Odylyne The Ceremony, my sister is stopping by for a visit... it's shaping up to be a pretty good month.

Lorelai and I are settling into our new routine. Already this month we've been to LA and back several times (for the Doen Sample Sale, duh), seen a movie, made headway on a DIY dollhouse... and I can already tell that single-parenting is going to be rough going for the next couple of months. Luckily, I have the California sunshine to inspire a little bit of joy!

How are you feeling about August? Are you just as ready for Fall as I am?!

Whew... what a month! As the days of July flew by they seemed to get crazier and crazier. While we're finally stationary in SoCal (after DAYS of travel, a week in San Francisco, countless trips to Target, etc), I wouldn't necessarily say that we are settled in just yet. I'm still figuring out how to exist in a space that isn't ours, preparing for baby, and plowing along on this wild freelance journey. As if I wasn't crazy enough, I added another gig this week and am super excited to work with one more of my favorite brands.

While I'm basically over promising exciting projects (I do still have some up my sleeve that are taking way longer than planned), I miss regular blogging and am looking to carve out even more time to commit to this space. I'm hopeful that once school starts for Lo (next week!) I'll have a bit of catch up time before I have to work with a newborn on my lap. Since I think of you often, I'm always saving links that I find interesting and want to share here. Without further ado, here are 10 things I'm loving lately:

a look into the USA vs. breastfeeding with Mother - something to think about as I make a plan for this baby... I'm hopeful that this time around will be easier and I'll find more support. I would love to breastfeed for a year if possible!

I've recently become obsessed with Busy Phillips. She's super real and hilarious. Can we be best friends? This Net-a-Porter article makes it seem like it.

a truly important read about the state of abortion rights - this is an issue I've been vocal about in the past and as I work through my degree, I find myself even more committed to exploring women's rights through the lens of scholarly writing. Understanding where we stand is the most important first step!

I've been obsessively consuming the Style Like U podcast in recent months and it seems that each episode is better than the last. Highly recommend!
