Holiday Gift Guide No. 4: This Is A Man's World

The men on my Christmas list are always the most difficult to shop for, partly because man-world is uncharted territory for me and partly because the men in my life seem to be so darned picky! I've learned that guys think of gifts in terms of usefulness (unlike the way women think of gifts: frivolous things they would never purchase themselves). Cool tech gadgets are always a safe bet (think the newest ipod and a drawing tablet that scans your sketches into your computer), but shoes that can be worn either casually or to work and an amped up messenger bag will work as well. Is Santa visiting your house? Remind him to drop off a rad new bike to bring out the little kid in your man!

What's your fall-back man gift?

Holiday Gift Guide No. 3: Future Fashion Blogger

Some people are extremely hard to shop for (Mr. Jackson for example!) but shopping for my eighteen month old, Lorelai, is my favorite way to spend my time. I love all things whimsy when it comes to her wardrobe and toy chest, and this Christmas will be no different. Of course, Santa is chipping in for the big ticket items  (the adorable "My American Girl" doll made to look like Lo) but Mommy has her heart set on some cute and kitschy books, fab new duds (we scored this Baby Gap velvet band jacket 30% off during Black Friday) and some jewels of Lo's very own for under our tree. How cute are mini versions of clothes you would actually rock yourself?

Holiday Gift Guide No. 2: Deck The Halls

I have a fondness for all things holiday related, in fact, I started decking our halls in mid-November this year. What better way to help somebody close to you celebrate the season than with an early gift they can use all month long? I'm convinced that the best Christmas gifts are frivolous things the receiver may never have thought to buy themselves, so why not shower someone (or me!) with a chic stocking, cute stationary or an updated holiday sweater? You can even have a freshly cut pine tree delivered straight to their doorstep!

What items help you get in the holiday spirit?

  1. The Garden Gates 6ft Fraser Fir Tree
  2. Rifle Paper Co. Custom Illustrated Holiday Cards and North Pole Postcards
  3. Free People Tinsel and Lace Stocking
  4. Rifle Paper Co. Holiday Stickers and Labels
  5. Target Glass Cloche with House (this sits on my desk at home, so cute!)
  6. Ikea TEJN Faux Sheepskin (I use a couple of these under the tree as a makeshift tree skirt)
  7. Threshold Figural Fox
  8. Papersource Silver Tinsel
  9. Black Poppy Kitschy Pullover Sweater (I scooped the polar bear version of this sweater up, love it!)
  10. Mara Mi Mountain Cabin Gift Bag and Bottle Tags
