Shiny Ponies

"Shoes are like fairies… with that little magical piece that finishes everything.”

"When the shoe comes back to us, it’s a beautiful shiny pony. And the shiny pony for this season was the Etta.”

Have you seen J Crew's new Italian Shoe Collection?!  I know I sing the praises of J Crew and Jenna Lyons weekly here on Chelsea & The City, and I planned on saving this video for my weekly link roundup, but this collection is way too gorgeous not to have a post of its very own. The line's shining stars (or 'shiny ponies' as Jenna calls them) are the chunky-heeled, mega-embellished Etta pumps. Although I've been favoring pointed toe court shoes lately I can totally get down with these round-toed beauties (the most gorgeous fabrics and color combos don't hurt)! Jenna goes on to describe her fabulous shoe collection (girlfriend's got 289 pairs!) and spends a few minutes reminding me why she's my number one style icon in the video below. Take a few minutes and bask in the inspiration that is Jenna Lyons and her shiny ponies:

Caught Red Handed

on me: blouse: madewell (love this version) | skirt: forever 21 (similar) | metallic heels: target | bracelet: j crew
on lorelai: shirt: target (similar) | polka dot skimmers: gap kids | sneakers: zara mini

Sometimes, my lovely readers, mirrors lie. While I love the statement that head-to-toe crimson makes, the boxiness of this shirt paired with a classic pencil skirt silhouette are a little too 'working girl'. I'm getting total 80's business-casual flashbacks in the worst way possible. Do you ever love an outfit when you put it on and then cringe a little bit looking back? Oh well, you live blog, you learn.

I loved Lorelai's cute tee reminding me to "be happy" all day. What is it about clothes that makes them so cute in tiny sizes? On a lighter note, Lorelai and I baked red velvet cookies this weekend and our hands were dyed red from the food coloring for a few days. Luckily, we weren't interrogated over the weekend or we would've been out of luck and caught red handed!
