The Holiday Edit

As we gear up for the busiest, most magical time of the year, it's important to check in and set the pace for the holiday season. It's easy to get swept away in the hustle and bustle but it's essential to edit out the stress and inject the merry into every day of December. In keeping with tradition, I'm taking cues in order to create my perfect holiday.

p.s. Check out last year's edit for even more inspiration.

decorate // The Christmas aisle at Target is one of my favorite places to browse and gather holiday cheer. That said, I prefer to add little touches of festivity that lend an air of intention. After all, decorations are just a little more special when they're crafted by tiny hands.

wear // Velvet is a texture I always reserve for the month of December. Something about it just screams 'holiday party' and I love bringing out the rich fabric all season long. While I usually opt for shades of black, white and grey, I love to add gold, emerald and oxblood to my winter repertoire. This Reformation stunner is at the top of my list!

make // The scent of pine is one of the most intoxicating and memory-rousing smells in the whole world! Adding little hand-made halos or a few wreaths sourced from the flower market around your home is the perfect way to enjoy the smell all the way to Christmas.

set the table // Why wait to break out the fancy china? A beautiful tablescape is appropriate from the 1st to the 25th!

cook // Chocolate. Cinnamon. Gingerbread. These are the flavors of December.

escape // A trip away is a great way to unwind and relax during the holidays. Whether you're staying five minutes (I love a good staycation!) or 5,000 miles from home, find some time to escape from the everyday and recharge your batteries before the New Year rolls around.

spend time // Hanging out with loved ones is what the season is all about! I live for chats by the twinkling lights of the tree, time spent snuggling family and catching up on the phone with friends.

wrap it up // Brown paper packages tied up with strings... need I say more?!

bundle // A camel scarf is the perfect finishing touch in the winter. I have plans to add one to every outfit for the next few months!
