Kristina Meltzer's Sunlit LA Home Tour

I've seen iterations of Kristina Meltzer's Los Angeles abode floating around the web for quite a while and every time I happen upon an image of her sunny digs I'm smitten all over again. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of breathable white spaces with minimal design, a touch of California cool and the tiniest pops of color (scroll down for the emerald green accent wall of my dreams!) and Kristina's house ticks all those requirements nicely. The founder of 100 Layer Cake and 100 Layer Cakelet, it's no wonder that Kristina has mastered the art of making an inviting, kid-friendly home that is perfect for adults too.

Keep on scrolling for some of my favorite rooms to grace the web in a long time...

July Mood + Soundtrack

It's July and I've gotta say, the whole 'new month, new me' mantra is still proving to be true. June was a big one for us and we came out the other end with a six year old (no longer a five year old), a new address on a new continent, a ton of new friends and a brand new schedule. Things are a little more relaxed around here these days and that's a-okay with me but I hope you'll hang in there as I figure out when to share posts.

Since everything is bit more low-key living the island life and our big move is officially behind us, July is slated to be a slower month with lots of time for beach hangs. Our household goods have about four more weeks left in their journey meaning we're still roughing it. I definitely miss the things that make us feel at home like art and all of our kitchen accessories. It'll be Christmas in July when they finally show up!

Another exciting thing to happen this month is the relaunch of one of my favorite reads, Natalie Catalina's site. I've been lucky enough to call Natalie a friend for a couple of years and I'm so excited to see what she's been hard at work on. Mark your calendar for July 10th!

As seems to be the new norm, I've been drawing inspiration from all kinds of coastal sources for the upcoming month. I'm loving:

- carefree spaces that aren't stuffy or over-planned (Did I tell you our new house is shiny white cinderblock in every. single. room?! I'm still figuring out how to deal. Help!)
- easy sartorial choices fit for a boho beach bum (those amazing cropped flares... I DIE! Mostly I've been wearing a ton of shorts and jumpsuits... it only took 26 years to figure out that jumpsuits are my signature.)
- one piece suits
- palms galore

To go with all of that beach-y, summery goodness I threw together another monthly soundtrack that's perfect for the longest (and hottest) days of the year. You can listen to July's playlist here. Just picture me listening with you, speeding and sweating all the way to the grocery store on my bike... in a jumpsuit.

10 Ways to Practice Self Care

Do you ever feel like something's just not meant to be? For some reason I drafted and scheduled this particular blog post three separate times and each time my lengthy article on self-care disappeared. So, in the spirit of self care I'm keeping it short and sweet today.

It might be that all of the upheaval and change from the first half of the year is finally catching up to me or the fact that I've come down with what the locals call "kwaj crud" (undoubtedly from hopping out of the ocean and into the my AC blasted home everyday) but I'm definitely in need of a little self care. Since the beach is the best place to partake in a little r&r, I've compiled my top ten ways to power down and turn inward. Will you join me?
