Loving Lately: October

Doen AW 2020 Collection (mentioned here), Bolotas sofa in pistachio, Practical Magic (1998), Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman, Moon Juice “Cosmic Cream” moisturizer, Alexis Smart Beauty Formula No. 7 Gamine, taper candles by Poppies & Posies , Lucy Williams, J.Crew Polartec Sherpa Fleece Jacket, Dames Jumpsuit, Jolie Marche pillows, reminder to vote via Christy Dawn

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything on this blog but it seemed like 1) the right time to jump back into taking up space online and 2) a good opportunity to clue you into a few things that I’ve been loving lately. While the world seems daunting and there are absolutely bigger fish to fry than my favorite skincare items, a little bit of levity is often welcomed and downright necessary. While I can’t make any promises alluding to regular posting, I will try my best to check in with a tiny splash of inspiration now and then. Bear with me as we rediscover a rhythm. ;)

  1. Doen’s Fall Chapter 2 - I’ve gushed enough about this release so I’ll leave you with just one more nod to a stunning collection and some real representation to boot.

  2. A sofa I’d love to curl up on - This fuzzy settee has been haunting my dreams (and my Pinterest homefeed) for months! It looks exactly like a perfectly lush patch of grass somewhere beside a Scottish loch and I’m utterly smitten.

  3. My favorite Autumn (and all-time) film - I’ve waxed poetic about it before (here, here, and almost once a week in my daily life) but, my god, Practical Magic is peak “vibes.” This year I’m fully leaning into the movie as inspiration for every facet of what surrounds and adorns me.

  4. Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman - Speaking of Practical Magic, I ~just~ finished Alice Hoffman’s prequal to the story and it was the best kind of spooky season read. I highly recommend it!

  5. New beauty favorites - As I approach 30 this year (and whine about it a ton), I’m systematically revamping my skincare routine to include cleaner, more focused products. While I have been Glossier obsessed for a few solid years, the brand (and their ethos) just isn’t sitting well with me anymore. Enter: Moon Juice’s luxe “Cosmic Cream” moisturizer and these essence drops which are just “woo woo” enough to excite me these days.

  6. The more candles, the better! - self explanatory

  7. Building my PNW wardrobe - While crafting this directionless list I realized that I have yet to share our big 2020 news. After living on our tiny Pacific Island for three years, we moved across the globe and settled in Seattle. It’s all very exciting and COLD, hence my sudden urge to buy every sweater I come across and invest in a few more layers. This sherpa and this jumpsuit are vying for top billing on my wishlist.

  8. Pillows - Similar to my wardrobe, we’ve been building our PNW home and filling things out with new throw pillows has made me inexplicably giddy.

  9. VOTE VOTE VOTE - This list would be moot without a plea from me to you to use your voice in a big way right now. Please, please, please, vote!

Doen AW 2020
Doen-Fall-2020-1.jpg

I can’t help it, Doen just does something to me. The idyllic images from their newest AW 2020 collection instantly transport the viewer to a simpler life, one I think we’re all longing for in the wake of such an upheaval of a year. From floaty and floor-skimming shift dresses to the sweetest ditsy floral, the collection is reminiscent of the perfect English countryside cottage, replete with soul-enriching gusts of fresh air, a few chickens to tend to, and my ideal knitwear.

With 2020 refocusing my desires and making clear the life I long for as I approach 30(!), there’s no better source of manifestation than these pretty pictures. More beauty below:
