Happy Friday! + weekly roundup

Happy Friday! The past week was one of those laid-back and uneventful weeks that kind of slides right by. Aside from a few exciting happenings at the homestead (Lorelai and I are starting home-school preschool on Monday and we spent the week gathering a few last minute supplies) and submitting my application/portfolio for the studio (it's nerve-wrecking to have your work critiqued, no?), all has been quiet. I have a few things to wrap up for clients today but I've got quite the weekend of school preparations and hand-ringing on the books.

Here's what I've loved on the web this week:

Free People's look inside the world of Ruthie Lindsey
a San Francisco apartment tour to write home about
how to style denim with Refinery 29 and A View from the Topp
Sea Chant's cool studio
& the dreamiest Mes Demoiselles Paris lookbook

Beauty Tips with Jenna Lyons

A longtime wearer of J.Crew, (I even sported the brand head-to-toe in Tuesday's post) I have to admit that I've fallen off the jewel-encrusted, half-tucked wagon lately. By the looks of her moody/minimalist inspiration board, it would seem creative director Jenna Lyons has too. As I evolve into a slightly more bohemian, easy style I've left a few things behind (i.e. statement necklaces and the trademarked "shiny pony" aka the extravagant heel in colorways like leopard and "neon flamingo") but I'll never forsake my beloved Jenna. Her sense of style is second to none and I'm lapping up any and all advice she has to offer. Thank God for this interview with Into The Gloss, now you can revel in secrets whispered only in hushed tones around the J.Crew offices. Whew!

What do you think? Did all of the blogger hype surrounding the brand these last few years kill J.Crew a little bit for you too? I have to admit, I'm still eying a few pieces from their newest crop of Fall must-haves...

Anthropologie | Editorial Styling 04

Well friends, we've reached the final look in our Anthropologie shoot and it's by far the most conceptual. We had so much fun dreaming up this story and ending with hair-turned-nest seemed like the perfect little sendoff. Our model was definitely one with the birds by this point!  You can consider this the beginning of things to come on Chelsea & The City and expect to see a few more projects in the coming months...

I'm so grateful to the Anthropologie team for letting me play dress-up and giving me creative free-reign on this project.  I'm incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to work with one of my favorite brands!

This shoot definitely would not have gone so smoothly without the help of our amazing little team (and some sweet feathery extras). I'm smitten with the idea of creating beautiful images with friends!
