30 x 30: Day 6

I picked up this Anthropologie skirt during my first days in Alabama and immediately swapped out one of my 30x30 items for it. It's comfy without being too casual and I'm positive a month with two plane rides (one with a two year old in tow) wouldn't be complete without a cozy maxi! With temperatures dropping (and a few weeks on the water coming up) I just know I'm going to live in this flowy Anthro number.

As we're settling into the new apartment (sorry about the location, I'm still scoping the best blog photo-ops) I'm starting to realize a few things. While the prospect of a new town is totally exciting, I really loathe the moving process! The boxes, the endless supply of packing paper, the lack of internet (the cable man came this morning and I could've hugged his neck, I was so happy) and the flurry of equal parts exhaustion, excitement and ikea burn-out are pretty much the whole story around here. This corner of the living room is as moved-in as it gets and we're sleeping on the floor since our moving company lost a few pretty important pieces of our bed-frame in transit.

Things I hate: moving, unpacking boxes, taking blog photos inside, quiet time with Mr. Jackson while Lorelai is in California (I miss that little peanut)...

Things I love: fresh starts, new towns to explore, quiet time with Mr. Jackson while Lorelai is in California, J Crew's 25% off sweaters sale

Roadtrip Day 2...  On Sunday we drove the final leg of our journey (from Atlanta to Huntsville) and we're finally here! Travel outfits are a funny thing. While I like being comfortable, I knew we'd be stopping at Ikea (for the essentials which included: a new duvet, one million toss pillows, a mini greenhouse and a navy velvet arm chair... obvi) and later for dinner. I opted for an outfit that's basically my uniform, the Canadian tuxedo! While Mr. Jackson's car does terrible things like wrinkling all of my outfits upon planting my butt in the passenger's seat, I felt a little more pulled together than if I had checked out of the hotel in my sweats. You win some, you lose some.

wins: velvet armchair, not looking crazy in my pjs, being in our new hometown
loses: wrinkles, wearing heels throughout ikea, major foot pain
