I won a Liebster Award!

I just love that Kylie Rae from Shimmer Me Pretty nominated me for a Liebster award this week (thank you girl!). You should definitely check out her sweet blog for all things girly and shimmery! I've been blogging for quite a while but have just recently started to gain momentum and followers and this award is a great way for you to get to know me on a more personal level.

"What’s a Liebster Award you ask? Liebster is a German word meaning dearest, and the award is given to up-and-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers who deserve some recognition and support to keep on blogging. It's also a great way to discover new blogs!"

Now, here are the rules:
1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter and link back to their blog
2. Share eleven things about yourself and answer the questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
3. Nominate five blogs that you enjoy to receive the award who have less than two hundred  followers, and provide them with questions to answer about themselves
4. Inform them of their nomination by leaving a comment on their blog.

So, here it goes...
1. Growing up I was an Army Brat and have lived in more than 10 different places. I consider Germany to be my home (ich vermisse Deutschland!) and was so lucky to travel and experience different cultures (especially in Europe) while I was younger.

2. I met (and started dating) Mr. Jackson in my Junior year of High School. We have been together five years, two countries and one Lorelai and I couldn't be happier. It blows my mind to use the term "High School sweethearts" but I'm blessed to have found my partner at such an early age.

3. My daughter was named after a Marilyn Monroe character, Lorelei Lee, from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. We had been struggling to agree on a name for months (I liked Zoe and Charlotte aka "Charlie") and one night while the movie was on Mr. Jackson leaned in and said, "How about Lorelai?". I knew instantly that the name fit and can't imagine Lorelai as anything else.

Her middle name is Cody.

4. Speaking of Lorelai, I own every season of Gilmore Girls and have watched every episode at least five times! It's something that my mom, sister and I watched together and having it on in the background helps with homesickness.

5. I played feild hockey at my private school because it was the only sport I could play in a skirt.

6. As girly as I am, I'm also a bit of a comic book nerd. I collect Catwoman comics and have secretly always wanted to be Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

7. I'm a MAJOR list maker. I try to make a to-do list everyday (both in my planner and on my iPhone) and feel totally accomplished when I'm able to cross things off!

8. Lorelai has been to three continents in her short life. North America, Europe & Asia!

9. I have one sister, Hannah (18), and we're freakishly linked. We talk on the phone/Skype/computer pretty much all day, everyday. It's so fun to have a built-in best friend!

10. I have four tattoos, some of which have made appearances in various outfit shots. I have a string of rosary beads on my right shoulder blade, the Tennessee Williams quote "a prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages" on my left forearm, a sentimental date in roman numerals on my left clavicle bone that reminds me to make decisions that make me happy instead of trying to please other people and an arrow with two x's on my right wrist (my sister has the same one)

11. I've always wanted to move to New York and live in the city. I've become completely obsessed with the idea of having a brownstone in Manhattan over the last year or so and know that we'll make it happen someday!

Questions from Kylie Rae:

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in 2011, shortly after my daughter was born, to give myself a way to explore all of the things that I love. I was always a sporadic poster and decided to use this year to go all out and put everything I have into Chelsea & The City. It's been an amazing four months and I'm so excited for the future!

2. What was the inspiration behind your blog name?
I consider myself somewhat of a Carrie Bradshaw and Chelsea & The City is a play on words using Sex & The City and my name.

3. What are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about my family, spending as much time learning and growing with Lorelai as possible and exploring things that make me happy here on my blog!

4. What is the one beauty product you can't go without?
BB Cream & mascara.

5. Where were you born and raised?
See #1 up top

6. What is your greatest dream?
My greatest dream is always make decisions that make me happy and that are best for my family. In the next few years I'd like to be married, settled in our own home and living a life that makes me happy.

7. What has been your most favorite place you've traveled to?
I loved visiting Japan (Mr. Jackson's home) two Christmases ago. It was so eye-opening to experience Asian culture and explore the country!

8. What do you do to relax?
A sushi date with Lorelai and Mr. Jackson.

9. Favorite movie?
Breakfast At Tiffanys, Something's Gotta Give, French Kiss, Sleepless in Seattle, Practical Magic...

10.  If you're a coffee lover, favorite Starbucks drink?
Iced Caramel Machiatto (no whip, lowfat milk)

11. What is your go to nail color?
Nude, always.

Phew! If you made it through this long post, I'm impressed. I'm passing the award to Amanda from Face It Catalog, Molly from Sir Paul & Company, Ashley and Michelle from Ditty & Sugar & Lauren from Lo So Fancy!

My questions for you girls are:
1. Why did you start blogging? 2. Which blog post has been the most fun to create and why? 3. What's your motto? 4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 5. What's your favorite color combination? 6. Which 5 blogs are your favorite to follow? 7. Favorite song & movie? 8. How would you spend the perfect Sunday afternoon? 9. What do you keep on your desk/work space? 10. If you had to live in any other era, which would you chose? 11. What would you do on an average after school evening in elementary school? High School?
