This week Lo officially graduated the first grade and earned her place in the second. Woo! She's beyond excited to put a somewhat difficult but fun year behind her and I'm even more excited that she gets to spend half of the year in Southern California. The main reason we're headed home so early is that school starts SUPER early stateside (the first week of August! Isn't that nuts?!). Luckily, we're staying with family and Lorelai will get to go to school at the same elementary school my own dad went to in the 60s. So sweet!

Instead of spending our first week or so in the states back-to-school shopping, I decided to place a big Zara order and get the bulk of her shopping out of the way. It sounds pragmatic but really, I just couldn't resist all of the cute stuff that's out right now. This is basically my dream wardrobe but in miniature. Since we're not in our own space, the idea is to keep it simple with a mini-sized capsule wardrobe that'll work from August to December. Another bonus of online school shopping? I don't have to battle it out with her over sparkly My Little Pony t-shirts (even though I caved and compromised on a unicorn backpack). You win some, you lose some.
